Prior to 2025, international POS vendors and retailers with in-house checkout software relied on issuing a unilateral "Attestation individuelle de conformité" (publisher self-certificate) under BOI-TVA-DECLA-30-10-30. Finance Law 2025 abolished self-certification. Every POS software version deployed in French stores must now hold an accredited certificate from AFNOR/INFOCERT (NF525) or LNE (Référentiel de certification des systèmes de caisse), or integrate a certified fiscal cloud middleware layer.
Your POS kernel must enforce and prove to LNE/INFOCERT auditors: (1) Inaltérabilité (chained cryptographic signatures on every receipt line, training mode event, and void), (2) Sécurisation (asymmetric signing key protection), (3) Conservation (daily Z-closure, monthly, and annual Grand Total Grand Total perpétuel Fiscal Archive export), and (4) Archivage (6-year tamper-evident archive readability).
Unlike Italy or Spain, France does not require real-time per-receipt B2C clearance to DGFiP at the checkout lane. Instead, retailers must transmit aggregated daily POS Z-closure transaction data (Flux 10.3 B2C E-Reporting) broken down by VAT rate and store establishment via a registered Plateforme Agréée (PA / formerly PDP) following the AFNOR XP Z12-012 standard.
Whenever a business customer requests a B2B invoice at a French store checkout (or via Click & Collect), the POS cannot merely print a paper VAT invoice after September 2026 (Large/ETI) or September 2027 (SME/franchisees). It must emit a structured Factur-X, UBL 2.1, or UN/CEFACT CII payload to the buyer's PA/PDP endpoint via the central directory (PPF).
Since August 2023 under the French Anti-Waste Law (Loi AGEC), automatic printing of paper thermal receipts is prohibited unless requested by the customer. However, NF525/LNE cryptographic signing must still execute synchronously on every unprinted digital/silent POS transaction before tender completion.
